Glounbower Woods

Tucked away near Cloyne, Glounbower Woods is a lesser-known forest with a charming, rustic appeal. Its narrow trails meander through tall trees and soft undergrowth, offering a secluded environment that feels wonderfully off the beaten path.

Visitors often describe the woods as enchanting — ideal for a meditative walk or quiet time immersed in nature. Because it’s not as developed or crowded as other locations, you’ll likely have parts of the trail all to yourself. It’s the perfect setting to unplug and slow down.

Glounbower’s peaceful atmosphere and natural wildness make it a local favourite. Bring sturdy shoes and a sense of adventure, as some areas can be muddy or uneven. It’s an authentic East Cork woodland experience, just a short journey from Inch Hideaway.

Midleton to Youghal Greenway

Midleton to Youghal Greenway

The Midleton–Youghal Greenway is a developing off-road trail that will eventually connect the towns of Midleton and Youghal via a scenic cycling and walking path. Built along a disused railway line, it’s designed to provide safe, family-friendly access to some of East Cork’s most beautiful countryside.

When completed, the greenway will stretch over 23 km, offering a flat and smooth route ideal for cyclists, joggers, and walkers of all abilities. It’s a fantastic way to explore the area sustainably while enjoying farmland views, woodland sections, and coastal landscapes.

Sections of the greenway are already accessible and worth exploring during your stay. It’s perfect for a day trip by bike or on foot, with opportunities to stop in Midleton or Youghal for refreshments, sightseeing, or local shopping. Keep an eye out for updates as new parts of the trail open.
