Their story began at the famous Crane Lane in Cork. Fabrizio, suffering from a severe flu, was bundled up in a woolly jumper, beanie, scarf, and armed with tissues — hardly a “romantic hero” appearance. Yet, Colleen immediately noticed him and thought he seemed fun and intriguing.
Fabrizio recalls nervously seeing his reflection and worrying he looked more like the Michelin Man than a potential date. But fate intervened when they bumped into each other again at a house party later that night, spending hours talking — bonding over five cups of tea until sunrise.
A Date That Changed Everything
Just days later, Fabrizio visited Colleen at the shop she was running and asked her out. Her playful “How about now?” led to an impromptu date at Charlie’s Pub. The instant chemistry was undeniable — their knees touched, and both felt an electric spark, marking the beginning of a lifelong journey together.
Fabrizio describes that storm of butterflies as a sign they were soulmates, while Colleen knew from the start they would spend their lives together.
